Bytloop Mail vs Front: honest comparison for teams that also send transactional email
Feature-by-feature comparison between Bytloop Mail and Front — pricing, shared-inbox depth, and where each tool fits. Last updated September 2026.

TL;DR#
Front is the category-defining shared-inbox product for customer-facing teams. If you have 20+ support agents living in an inbox all day with tight Salesforce and HubSpot integration, Front is best-in-class and worth its price. But Front does not send transactional email at scale; if your product also sends receipts and password resets, you bolt on Resend or SES separately. Bytloop bundles the shared inbox with a first-class transactional API and broadcasts. For a ten-person team the comparison is stark: Front Starter is $250/month minimum just for the inbox; Bytloop Growth is $79/month for the inbox plus 200k transactional sends plus broadcasts.
| Bytloop Mail | Front | |
|---|---|---|

| Transactional email API | Yes, first-class | No — bring your own sender |
| Broadcasts / campaigns | Yes | No |
| Entry pricing | $19/mo flat | $25/user/mo, 10-user minimum = $250/mo |
| Native CRM integrations | Limited | Deep (Salesforce, HubSpot native) |
| Mobile apps | Web + PWA | Native iOS / Android — polished |
| Best fit | 2–15 person teams needing send + reply | 20+ person customer-support ops teams |
Who this comparison is for#
You need a shared inbox for your team, and you also send transactional email as part of your product. This is a surprisingly common shape:
- A B2B SaaS with 5-15 people, a support inbox at
help@, and a product that sends transactional email to users. - A startup considering Front + Resend and wondering if there is a simpler answer.
- A team currently on Front paying $250+/month and wondering what they gain vs a bundled product.
If your only requirement is a shared inbox for a large customer-support org with hard integrations to Salesforce and complex SLA workflows, Front is the right pick and this comparison will not change that. Take it seriously — the ratings and market position are earned.
What Front does well#
Front has been the leader in shared-inbox software for years, and its strengths are real.
- The best shared-inbox UX in the category. Assignment, snoozing, shared drafts, rules automation, and comment threads are polished to a level that has taken years to build. It is genuinely the tool power-user support teams love.
- Deep CRM integrations. Native Salesforce and HubSpot integrations with two-way sync. If your Salesforce data has to update from inbound conversations, Front is one of the few products that does this well out of the box.
- Rules and automation depth. Front's rule engine is broad and can drive complex triage flows without engineering involvement.
- Native mobile apps for iOS and Android, well-regarded and often a hard requirement for on-call support rotations.
- Analytics for support ops. Reporting on response time, SLAs, and per-agent load is mature and well-suited to a CS manager's workflow.
- Compliance and enterprise-readiness. SOC 2, HIPAA availability, established procurement path for large orgs.
Where Front falls short for teams that also send transactional email#
Front is not designed to be a sending platform. That is a legitimate product decision — but it means teams that need both end up paying for two products.
- No transactional email API at scale. Front is not a transactional sender. Password resets, receipts, and product notifications need a separate provider (Resend, SES, Postmark, or SendGrid).
- No broadcast / campaign tooling. Front is inbox-shaped, not marketing-shaped. If you send weekly newsletters, that is another product.
- Per-seat pricing with minimum seat commitments. Starter is $25/user/month with a 10-user minimum ($250/mo floor). Professional is $65/user/month with a 50-user minimum. Small teams over-buy seats to unlock the plan.
- Omnichannel requires Professional. SMS, WhatsApp, and other channels are Professional-tier features.
- Total spend adds up fast. A ten-person team pairing Front Starter ($250/mo) with Resend ($20+/mo) sits around $270/mo for what Bytloop delivers at $79/mo.
Feature-by-feature#
Shared inbox depth#
Front wins on raw depth. Their assignment, snoozing, shared-draft, rules engine, and mobile experience are the category standard. If your support team is already living in Front and loves it, moving costs real productivity in the short term.
Bytloop's inbox covers the common shape: assignment, internal notes, SLA timers, threading, shared drafts, and workspace-scoped suppression. It is not as feature-rich as Front on power-user workflows, and we are honest about that. It is competitive for teams that need the essentials and value simplicity.
Transactional email API#
Front: not a product. Bytloop: first-class REST API with idempotency keys, HMAC-signed webhooks, batch sends, and OpenAPI-generated SDKs. Same login as the inbox — the person answering a reply and the API key sending the original are inside the same workspace, so you get one audit trail.
Broadcasts / campaigns#
Front: not a product. Bytloop: bundled. Drag-and-drop template builder, audience management, scheduled broadcasts, and per-campaign analytics in the same login as everything else.
CRM and third-party integrations#
Front wins this row without contest. Salesforce and HubSpot native sync, deep app-store ecosystem, and years of established connectors. Bytloop has webhooks and a REST API for building your own integration, and works well as a data source into whatever CRM you already run, but we do not ship native two-way Salesforce sync today.
If Salesforce sync is a hard requirement, Front is the objectively right pick.
Mobile experience#
Front ships native iOS and Android apps with genuine care. If your team does on-call support from phones, this is a real advantage. Bytloop ships a responsive web experience today; native mobile is on the roadmap but not shipped.
Pricing at scale#
Concrete monthly cost across three team sizes. Front column uses public Starter pricing at 10-user minimum, then Professional at 50-user minimum where required. Bytloop column includes the transactional API and broadcasts. To reach feature parity on the Front side, add a transactional sender (Resend Pro at $20+/mo).
| Team shape | Bytloop | Front + Resend |
|---|---|---|
| 5-user startup, 20k emails/mo | $19 (Starter — inbox + API + broadcasts) | $250 (Front Starter 10-user min) + $20 (Resend Pro) = $270 |
| 10-user team, 100k emails/mo | $79 (Growth) | $250 (Front Starter, 10 users) + $90 (Resend Scale 100k) = $340 |
| 25-user team, 500k emails/mo | $199 (Scale) | $1,625 (Front Professional at $65 × 25 seats — Professional has 50-user min in practice, so this is understated) + ~$400 (Resend Scale) = $2,025+ |
Small-team math is the most striking. A five-person startup pays $19/month on Bytloop for a full send + inbox stack. On Front + Resend, the same startup pays $270/month minimum because Front's 10-user minimum forces them to buy seats they do not use.
Migration considerations#
Moving from Front to Bytloop is honest work. Front has been someone's daily driver for years; muscle memory does not port for free.
- Team retraining. Front's power-user UX is different from Bytloop's. Assignment, snoozing, and rules exist in both, but the exact placement is different. Budget training time.
- Rule migration. Front's rule engine is more powerful than Bytloop's. Some complex rules will need to be simplified or re-expressed.
- Historical conversations. Front's export gives you emails and conversation metadata; Bytloop can import inbound messages into a mailbox, but attaching them to reconstructed conversations is imperfect. If long-term conversation history matters, plan an S3 archive on the Front side before switching.
- CRM sync. If you rely on Front's native Salesforce sync, you will need to build the equivalent (webhook → CRM) yourself.
Migration is easier for teams under 20 people; harder for teams over 50 with deep Front power-user workflows.
When to pick Front instead#
Honestly:
- You are a 20+ person customer-support team where the inbox is the primary tool everyone opens every morning.
- You need native Salesforce or HubSpot integration with two-way sync that runs unattended.
- Your on-call rotation depends on polished native mobile apps.
- You have already invested significantly in Front's rule engine and rebuilding those rules is more expensive than the vendor delta.
- Your team does not send transactional email as part of your product.
When Bytloop Mail is the better fit#
- You have a 2–15 person team that needs a shared inbox AND sends transactional email as part of the product.
- You are currently paying for Front + Resend / SendGrid and want to consolidate.
- You want a single vendor and a single audit trail across inbound and outbound email.
- You want the small-team pricing shape — $19 to start, no seat minimums, no per-user surcharge inside plan caps.
